The good news is that there some simple ways to naturally control small ants in and around your home. In fact, the ingredients for natural ant control can be found right in your pantry. Keep in mind that if you have a major ant problem (or ants other than small brown ants), then chances are these natural tips won’t help the problem go away entirely. In that case, you may need to hire a professional pest control expert to handle it for you.
If you notice ants coming into your home, try following some of these tricks:
Cinnamon Sticks & Garlic Cloves
Place cinnamon sticks or garlic in areas where you have seen ants enter, such as in window tracks, by doors and in corners around your home. Just peel and slice a few cloves and place them where you notice the ants. You can also place cinnamon sticks around the pantry for extra protection.
Vinegar
Place white vinegar in a spray bottle and spray on areas where you have seen ants. The fungicidal and insecticidal properties in the vinegar can help prevent ants.
MintMint destroys the smelling capabilities of ants and prevents them from entering your home. Plant mint around your home, especially near doors and close to areas where you have seen anthills. Second, place mint leaves in and around windows. If ants are entering your pantry, place some mint leaves on the shelves and in the corners.
Black Pepper
Sprinkle black pepper where you see ants. The ants will immediately scatter. Pay attention to where they run; chances are they will be exiting your house and you’ll be able to treat the entry area with pepper too.
Boiling Water
For serious anthill problems in your yard or walkway, pour boiling water over the anthills.
If these natural methods don't stop them, call our team of professionals - we even guarantee their removal.

We are out of winter now, and starting to look forward to the part of the year where we can spend time enjoying our outdoor lifestyles in and around the Gold Coast and Brisbane, but before you do, there are still lots of things that need to be looked after before we can finally put our feet up and relax. That includes thinking about pest control.
Spring is a time when insects such as spiders, ants, cockroaches, and fleas emerge and begin foraging for food and nesting areas. A time when they have their young and become quite active. An annual pest control program is the first step in keeping pests out. Choose a local pest control company who knows the area and the types of problems that are specific to your area.
Before an infestation catches you off guard, here’s a few more things you can do to keep unwanted pests such as Ants, Rats, Spiders and many other nasties outdoors where they belong.
Check your home for cracks and openings around the exterior. Remember to look up, pests don’t always enter at ground level.
Keeping moisture away is a good idea for a lot of reasons, but for the purpose of pest control, it’s especially important. Moisture issues can contribute to Ant infestations and many other pest related issues. You want to try and eliminate the conditions that attract and sustain pests. Eliminate standing water around the property.
Mosquitoes can not only disrupt your Sunday Barbecuing, but they carry diseases as well.
Trim Branches and shrubbery away from the exterior of the structure. Ants and other pests can get access this way. The branches can also do damage in some cases. Don’t store firewood or other materials against your home.
Keep your food in sealed containers. Don’t leave any food that may attract or feed the pests. Especially if your not at your house all the time. Pet food, Pantry items, cereals and other dry foods are inviting to Ants, Mice, Cockroaches and other pests.
Despite your best efforts to prevent pests such as Ants and Mice from entering your home, pest infestations can still occur anytime. A Local Professional Pest Control company like Pest Free Homes can help you with our standard yearly treatment. Contact us now for a quote.
